Mexican Formula One racing driver Checo Pérez, whose full name is Sergio Pérez Mendoza, was born on January 26, 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He began his racing career in karting at the age of six and later moved up to single-seater racing cars.
Pérez made his Formula One debut in 2011 with the Sauber team and scored his first podium finish in Malaysia in only his second race. He moved to the McLaren team for the 2013 season but struggled with a difficult car and was dropped after just one year.
In 2014, Pérez joined the Force India team (now Racing Point) where he has had the most success of his F1 career so far. He has scored eight podium finishes with the team and finished seventh in the drivers’ championship in 2016 and 2017.
Off the track, Pérez is known for his charity work in Mexico, where he has supported various causes including education, healthcare, and disaster relief. He has also been an ambassador for the United Nations’ Global Compact initiative.
